The Brits were on TV tonight. From what I saw, they were pretty rubbish. I’d forgotten what a joke some of the winners were. Lemar won Best British Urban Act. Where the fuck was Dizz? Busted and the Darkness had two awards each when I switched off, which is something.

Performances: Muse were OK. Katie Melua and Jamie Cullum did "Love Cats" – I’ve not heard much of either of their stuff, and I wanted to hate them for being nu-coffee-table music, but it was pretty good. A dull three-girl cover of "Kiss" – Missy Elliott was the only decent thing about it. Gwen Stefani sounded like her mic was switched off, and Alicia Keys was going "-ah" at the end of all her phrases. Made her sound like Mark E Smith.
