: 04 September 2002 : This is the promised good news: I have a job. I am a barista with the California Coffee Company, which has several kiosks scattered around the centre of Edinburgh. Yesterday evening I was given training on how to make espresso and how to foam milk. These were things I kind of knew how to do before, from working at Whittard when I was younger, but it still took a bit of time to get the hang of doing it perfectly. There were three others training with me, with various amounts of coffee knowledge. All three of them seemed like nice people, which is good. Today, at 4.00, one of the company directors will talk to us about customer service. Then at 5.00 the other director will tell us how to do the paperwork. See, the thing about the CCC is that since you’re on your own in the booth, you have to fill in the daily sheet with all the takings and do the stock ordering and the cleaning and stuff like that. It’s nice to be in that kind of responsible position. Oh, and later this evening I have the first class in that childcare course I applied for. I have to go all the way up to Telford College, and I can’t find out which bus I need to get. Hopefully I’ll get there on time.
