Not much going on in my life at the moment. I'm settled into my new flat, but it's on the ground floor and it's very cold so I've not been sleeping there much. It's a single bed, too, and the mattress is pretty uncomfortable - springs sticking into me at every turn. I've invested in a hot water bottle, which solves the warmth problem at least.

Went to see Insomnia yesterday as part of a Christopher Nolan double bill at the Cameo. It's very good, although the ending felt a bit conventional after what had gone before. Visually, it's beautiful, with lots of little flashes and flickers. The second film was Memento, which I hadn't seen either, but I'd planned to meet someone to see it with and they couldn't get a ticket, so I sold mine and we went for something to eat.

Tried to watch The Royal Tenenbaums in the evening, but the TV was buzzing and it was giving me a headache. It wouldn't have made that much of a difference if the film hadn't been full of long silences. It looked quite good, and I'd like to see it in full, though it struck me as quite a cold film despite its being funny. No real evidence of warmth between any of the characters. Maybe it's just the mood I was in.

Sunderland lost again at the weekend, though it was to Chelsea. Hope Wilkinson starts getting results. Hibs only drew, but they're fourth in the table, which is fairly respectable. And serial-prostitute-user Martin Edwards has resigned as Man United director. Ha!
